Please ensure you check the conditions for travel to and from your own country, to ensure you are clear on all parts of your trip.
Name badges will be mailed to participants who register until the second deadline. In case you do not receive your badge in the mail please visit the registration counter at the venue upon your arrival. Participants with a badge on hand may proceed to the fast lane registration.

The Euro is the official currency of Portugal.
The international dialling code for Portugal is +351.
All power sockets in Portugal provide a standard voltage of 230V with a standard frequency of 50Hz. You can use all your equipment in Portugal if the outlet voltage in your own country is between 220V-240V.
In any kind of emergency in Portugal, you can call the emergency number (112) from any telephone to speak to the emergency services. Depending on the nature of your query, the operator subsequently routes you through to the medical service, fire service, or police.
Filming and photography
We would like to inform you that there may be filming and photography during the annual meeting. A photo gallery with all photos taken during the congress will be available to registered participants on the ESGAR website until the end of June 2022. In addition, photographs taken during ESGAR 2022 may be used for the society's social media channels.
A printed version of the final programme will be handed out together with your congress bag upon check in at the venue. The ESGAR 2022 final programme will also be available on the website.
How to get to the venue
The Lisbon International Airport is located 7km north of the city centre. From the airport you can easily reach the city centre and the congress centre either by taxi or public transportation.
Taxis: The transfer by taxi takes approximately 15 minutes depending on the traffic. Taxis are always available in front of the airport building.
Public transportation: From the airport, you can reach the city centre by taking the AeroBus shuttle service, which leaves every 20 minutes between 7 am and 9 pm and stops at many hotels until it reaches Cais do Sodré (downtown Lisbon).
Travel from Cais do Sodré (following buses and tram) to the Lisbon Congress Centre (station name: R. Junqueira/Centro de Congressos):

Lead retrieval system
Your name badge is your business card. ESGAR and its sponsors are using a lead retrieval system during the congress. In practice that means that when you present your badge for scanning at an exhibition booth or for scanning when entering an industry sponsored lunch symposium, the following personal data can be retrieved: first name, last name, address details, email address.
Letter of invitation
The Central ESGAR Office is pleased to provide you with a formal invitation letter as soon as ESGAR has received your registration AND payment. It is understood that such an invitation is intended to help potential delegates to raise funds or to obtain a visa. This does not imply any commitment for ESGAR to provide financial funds or accommodation!
ESGAR is not liable for personal injury and loss of or damage to private property. Participants should obtain the appropriate travel insurance. The place of performance of any duties and obligations for both ESGAR and the participant’s sides shall be Vienna, Austria. Any contractual relationship with ESGAR shall be subject to Austrian law.
All correspondence concerning sponsorship and exhibition at ESGAR 2022 is exclusively handled by MAW - Medizinische Ausstellungs- und Werbegesellschaft. Any questions concerning accommodation in Lisbon will be handled by Abreu Events Portugal.
Smoking is banned in indoor public places in Portugal. Smoking in bars and restaurants is only allowed in designated smoking areas or venues.

The time zone in Portugal is Western European Summer Time (WEST, UTC+1)
Citizens of the European Union, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Romania and Switzerland only need an identity card to enter Portugal.
For visits of less than 90 days, a passport valid for at least three months after the end of their stay is necessary for visitors from Albania, Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Guatemala, Holy See, Honduras, Israel, Japan, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, Montenegro, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Saint Kitts and Nevis, San Marino, Serbia, Seychelles, Singapore, South Korea, United States of America, Uruguay, Venezuela, Special Administrative Regions of the People’s Republic of China in Hong Kong and Macao and Taiwan territorial Authority.
Citizens from countries not mentioned above need a visa to enter Portugal, which may be requested at the Portuguese Embassy or Consulate of their country, or another EU Embassy, for stays of up to 90 days.
Under the terms of the Convention Implementing the Schengen Agreement, flights between Schengen states are considered to be internal flights and passengers do not need to obtain another visa.
