ESGAR is responsible for delivering a high quality of education in gastrointestinal and abdominal radiology. The ESGAR meetings, courses and workshops are all well known to its members and radiologists all over the world. The increasing number of attendees to the ESGAR meetings indicates that there is a growing need for subspecialised education and recognition in gastrointestinal radiology. Because nowadays high quality care is through a multidisciplinary and dedicated approach, there is a strong demand for a high level of expertise of abdominal radiologists.
As a new service to its members, ESGAR introduces the “ESGAR Certificates of Subspecialty Recognition”. These certificates offer a recognition at European level for radiologists who have reached a subspecialised level of knowledge in abdominal radiology, who are keen to maintain this level through continuous education and involvement in the field. The programme follows a system of earned recognitions including active involvement in abdominal radiology practice as well as in education and research.
The ESGAR Certificates of Subspecialty Recognition Programme includes two levels:
ESGAR Certificate of Distinction (Level I) and Certificate of Excellence (Level II)
These levels represent the stages of qualification and involvement as abdominal subspecialised radiologist.
The certificate is given for a period of five years. After five years, the certificate can be renewed provided that the criteria and requirements have been fulfilled. ESGAR Members certified as Level II can be selected to be ESGAR Fellows (active members, for at least 3 years, who have made a significant contribution to abdominal and gastrointestinal radiology and related research areas) after the proposal of the Executive Committee.
LEVEL I – ESGAR CERTIFICATE OF DISTINCTION
ESGAR Members (active, corresponding) fulfilling the threshold according to the scoring
system of at least 15 points.
LEVEL II – ESGAR CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE
