Role Overview:
Worldwide Radiology has been made aware of an opportunity for a Radiologist to fill a full-time, locally salaried position in a teaching hospital in Sub-Saharan Africa, with access to multimodality imaging, including x-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRI services. Specialty disciplines are well represented in this hospital, including paediatrics, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, intensive care and orthopaedics. The role offers the opportunity to participate in all aspects of clinical service delivery, quality improvement and audit. The role will also involve strong participation in educational activities and offer research opportunities. The department has a severe shortage of radiology staff. It is expected that interested radiologists will not have experience in all disciplines, but flexibility and a willingness to undertake a mixed case load and new diagnostic challenges will greatly benefit this department, while offering a fantastic opportunity for learning. Excellent ultrasound skills, in addition to X-ray, contrast examinations and CT/MRI will be helpful, as this is a key modality in this setting.

The contract is for a minimum of one year, with options to extend. Salary will be on a modest local pay scale. Worldwide Radiology can offer mentoring and support for anyone who is interested in this opportunity but may not have relevant prior experience. Worldwide Radiology will shortlist, interview and recommend a suggested candidate.

Essential requirements:
●    Demonstrable certificate of completion of radiology training
●    Demonstrable proof of good standing with the applicant’s current regulatory body
●    Excellent communication and teaching skills
●    Ability and interest to work in a context of limited resources, to improvise and adapt
●    Ability to facilitate positive change and build sustainable working relationships
●    Cultural awareness and respect
●    Language requirements: Fluency in English

●    Previous experience of working in a limited resource healthcare setting.
