Dear friends,

It is with great pleasure and honor that I invite you to the Annual Meeting of the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR), which will be held in Montpellier, France, from June 9 to 12, 2026. This edition holds special significance, since we return to this remarkable region following the success of the congress in La Grande Motte in 2000. We are thrilled to once again convene in such an inspiring setting and to host one of the most prestigious events in our field.

This year, we have the privilege of gathering at Le Corum, Montpellier’s prestigious congress center, renowned for hosting major international events. With state-of-the-art facilities and a prime location in the heart of the city, Le Corum offers the ideal setting for scientific exchange and collaboration.

Abstract Submission

The ESGAR Annual Meeting has grown into a premier international forum for advancing research in gastrointestinal and abdominal radiology. Renowned for its high-calibre educational and scientific programme, the event is thoughtfully curated by the ESGAR 2026 Programme Committee to showcase cutting-edge developments and foster knowledge exchange in abdominal and GI radiology.

Dedicated to inclusivity and global representation, the ESGAR 2026 Programme Committee warmly invites the submission of abstracts for scientific and educational contributions. All submissions will undergo a thorough review process, with selected abstracts featured as scientific (oral) presentations or electronic posters. This approach ensures a dynamic and diverse programme that reflects the interests and expertise of radiologists worldwide.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION opens November 3, 2025 and is possible until January 15, 2026.

Abstracts longer than 250 words will not be accepted by the system.

Projects can only be submitted in one presentation category. Posters already on the Poster database may not be re-submitted to ESGAR. Accepted scientific presentations will be published online in a supplement to “Insights into Imaging”.

Further details will be made available in the online abstract submission system.

Presenters of all abstract types will receive the notifications of acceptance via e-mail in February 2026. Presenters with accepted abstracts for posters will receive a link to the e-Poster system by e-mail, enabling them to upload their poster presentation(s) prior to the meeting.

If you wish to withdraw your submission after having confirmed your acceptance, inform the Central ESGAR Office in writing (via e-mail) immediately. Please note that all presenters need to register for the congress!

Presentations must be prepared using PowerPoint for PC. Macintosh presentations must be saved in PC format. Speakers must deliver their presentation to the Preview Centre on a separate, labelled USB stick (ZIP disks are not accepted) or upload the presentation on the ESGAR presentation platform (link will be provided to presenters in due time). Presenters are responsible for testing their presentation for compatibility at the Preview Centre at the congress venue before handing it in. Further details will be made available together with the notification of acceptance.

The best 20 abstracts, submitted by residents who appear as the first author on the respective abstract and who will actually present their paper during the meeting, form the “ESGAR Top 20”. Authors will receive a diploma, confirming that their abstracts have received the best ratings among other abstracts submitted. In addition, registration for the meeting will be free for these authors (please get in touch at scientific.office(at)esgar.org to have your fee waived).

The best ESGAR Poster Presentations will be awarded a Diploma. The following prizes will be awarded: Magna Cum Laude, Cum Laude, and Certificates of Merit. The evaluation will be performed by a committee and the awarded presentations will be flagged as such in the poster system online. Evaluation will be based on novelty, accuracy, educational value and design.

Postgraduate Course: One story in four chapters - a journey along the biliary tree
Tuesday, June 9, 2026

The Postgraduate course entitled “One story in four chapters - a journey along the biliary tree” will be one of the true highlights of the meeting and will unfold the story of the biliary system, from its embryological origins and normal anatomy to the full spectrum of congenital, inflammatory, infectious, traumatic, and neoplastic conditions affecting it.

The registration fees include 20% VAT.

¹ Reduced registration fees for ESGAR members are only applicable if membership for 2026 has been settled.

²Residents, radiographers, technicians and nurses must send or fax a letter from their head of department confirming their status as a resident, radiographer, technician or nurse within seven days of completing the online registration. In case this confirmation is not received, the registration fee will automatically be adjusted to a regular fee. The age limit for registering as resident is 35 (incl. the age of 35).

The "ESGAR Member registration fee" is only applicable for members in good standing (2026 membership fee has to be settled before registration).
Only registrations accompanied by full payment can be considered complete.
During the online registration process, ESGAR offers the possibility to indicate the VAT Number. This number must be disclosed during the registration process; subsequent disclosures cannot be accepted.

Please note

Make sure to clearly state the ESGAR ID and the name of the registered person on the bank transfer in order to ensure identification of the payment. All bank charges have to be paid by the orderer. Please do not forget to add the incoming bank charges.

Confirmation of Registration and Payment

Upon completion of your online registration, your confirmation can be downloaded and printed from the Registration Service Area (Personal ESGAR Account) on the ESGAR Website. As soon as the payment is credited to our account, your confirmation of payment will be generated automatically and is available in the same area. Please allow 2-3 weeks for bank transfer payments to be processed.

Certificate of Attendance / Record of Attendance for CME Provider

The Certificate of Attendance as well as a detailed Record of Attendance for CME Provider* will be available in the online meeting platform after the congress.

*Records of Attendance for CME Provider will be available to those participants who have fully completed the electronic questionnaire for each CME eligible session.

Group Registrations

For companies or travel agents wishing to make registrations for a group of participants (min. 2), a group registration tool is available in the Registration Service Area (Personal ESGAR Account).

Letter of Invitation

The official letter of invitation is available in the Registration Service Area (Personal ESGAR Account) upon receipt of payment.

Low / lower-middle income countries

ESGAR is offering a 50 % discount from the respective published registration category for on-site attendance for radiologists residing and working in countries with a Human Development Index (HDI) < 0.8 based on the countries ranking from the latest Human Development Report (2023 - 2024).

For registered participants of the Annual Meeting, a selection of hotel rooms in various price categories is available at competitive rates. Lead retrieval system

Your name badge is your business card. ESGAR and its sponsors are using a lead retrieval system during the congress. In practice that means that when you present your badge for scanning at an exhibition booth or for scanning when entering an industry sponsored lunch symposium, the following personal data can be retrieved: first name, last name, address details, email address.

Letter of invitation

The Central ESGAR Office is pleased to provide you with a formal invitation letter as soon as ESGAR has received your registration AND payment. It is understood that such an invitation is intended to help potential delegates to raise funds or to obtain a visa. This does not imply any commitment for ESGAR to provide financial funds or accommodation!

Liability

The place of performance of any duties and obligations for both ESGAR and the participant’s sides shall be Vienna, Austria. Any contractual relationship with ESGAR shall be subject to Austrian law.

An application will be made to the EACCME for CME accreditation of this event. The EACCME is an institution of the UEMS (www.uems.net). The number of credit hours of European external CME credits will be announced on the ESGAR Website and in the Final Programme.
