Please let us introduce the “Young ESGAR”, an exciting new initiative to promote active participation of young ESGAR members within the vibrant ESGAR community.
Young ESGAR was initiated in 2019 by Prof. Regina Beets-Tan, President of ESGAR. It is currently coordinated by 4 young radiologists who are also representing Young ESGAR as delegates in the ESGAR research, educational, membership and workshop committees. Young ESGAR is advised by Prof. Michael Laniado and the chairs of the four committes:
Damiano Caruso (Educational Committee):
Damiano completed his Radiology residency in 2016 at Sapienza University of Rome after a 1 year research fellowship at MUSC - Medical University of South Carolina, Charlestons, SC/USA, with a special interest in cardiovascular imaging and abdominal Dual-Energy CT. Since then he worked as a staff radiologist at Sant’ Andrea University Hospital, Sapienza University of Rome. He’s involved in scientific activities focusing his interest in abdominal and oncologic imaging. Damiano already served as Chairman of the young radiologist committee of the ESOI (European Society of Oncologic imaging). He is an ESGAR member since 2010 and joined the Educational Committee in 2019.
Doenja Lambregts (Research Committee):
Doenja finished her Radiology residency program at Maastricht UMC+ in 2016 and has since then worked as a staff radiologist specialised in abdominal oncologic imaging at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek - Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam. She has been an active member of ESGAR since 2009, became an ESGAR fellow in 2015 and joined the Research Committee in 2017. Doenja was previously part of the Education Committee where she helped set up the “ESGAR Journal Watch”. She finished her thesis on “Novel MRI techniques in rectal cancer” in 2013 and is still actively involved in research on multiparametric imaging in rectal cancer as well as in other tumour types.
Casper Mihl (Workshop Committee):
Casper completed his Radiology training in 2016, followed by a fellowship in abdominal radiology at Maastricht UMC+. As of 2016, he works as a radiologist (and head of the CT department) at Maastricht UMC+ with a special focus on abdominal and cardiovascular radiology. In 2016, Casper completed his thesis "Decisive modification tools in coronary computed tomographic angiography; from phantom to patient". His primary emphasis in research is focused on the optimisation of scan and contrast media injection protocols in CT. He became an ESGAR fellow and joined the ESGAR Workshop Committee in 2019.
Cäcilia Reiner (Membership Committee):
Cäcilia obtained her medical degree at the Medical University of Vienna and afterwards joined the Radiology residency programme at the University Hospital Zurich. After finishing the residency training in 2011, she became a research fellow in abdominal imaging at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina (USA). Since then she pursued her interest in abdominal research with a special focus on tumour perfusion imaging, hepatobiliary and pelvic floor MRI. She returned to the University Hospital Zurich as a staff radiologist in 2012, where she became a senior staff member in 2017 and is now responsible for abdominal imaging and the MRI division. Cäcilia is an active member of ESGAR since 2008 and ESGAR fellow since 2017. She joined the ESGAR membership committee in 2019.
The main goal of Young ESGAR is to generate a forum of enthusiastic young ESGAR members and to represent the interests of young residents, radiologists and researchers within the ESGAR community. We aim to create an informal and interactive platform to network, exchange ideas and to promote active participation.
And of course we cannot do this alone!
Then send a short email expressing your interest to email@example.com.
Please attach a brief CV and a short (1-3 bullet points) description of what you would like to contribute to Young ESGAR.
We hope to see all of you at the ESGAR Annual Meeting, May 19-22, 2020 in Amsterdam, where you should take the chance to visit and meet us at the Young ESGAR booth!
